Congratulations!
Dr. Elise Elliott is officially retiring
at the end of December 2024.
So long, farewell…our very own "Dr. E" is retiring!
Dr. Elliott is a Colorado State University graduate with a BS in Animal Sciences in 1981 and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree in 1985.
Dr. Elliott grew up in Albuquerque, NM. She decided that she wanted to be a veterinarian when she was 5 years old. During her undergraduate years at CSU she worked as a milker on a family owned dairy and as a veterinary assistant at various small animal hospitals during her school breaks.
After graduating from veterinary school in 1985, she worked in Albuquerque for a few years and then moved to Los Lunas. She went into practice partnership with a clinic in the South Valley for over 22 years. In 2009 that clinic was sold, and Dr. Elliott did relief veterinary work for a while then went back to full time practice in 2017 with Valencia Animal Clinic. Dr. Elliott is also proud to be a part-time instructor for the CNM Veterinary Technician Program.
Dr. Elliott loves corgis and has a Pembroke Welsh Corgi named Tuffy whose favorite hobby is collecting squeaky toys. Dr. Elliott’s favorite hobbies are fiber crafts like crocheting, knitting and cross- stitching.
During her 7 years at Valencia Animal Clinic Dr. Elliott’s pet owners gained trust, especially when it comes to her in-depth study regarding any new ailment that requires research to provide good, solid treatment(s) for her patients. The clients truly appreciate her, and it’s easy to tell by the many google reviews that mention her name specifically. She will be missed by her patients and their owners and by all her co-workers! Her current co-workers were asked for one word they would use to describe Dr. Elliott:
Insightful
Detailed
Compassionate
Dedicated
Wonderful
Distinctive
Mindful
Determined
Insightful
Diligent
Intelligent
Pink
Tuffy also became part of the team and an active participant in every staff meeting. They make a great team!
So, What's Next Dr. E?
After working as a veterinarian for 40 years, Dr. Elliott is ready for a new phase of life! Her list of things to do in retirement is, “a long one!” First, she’s going to relax and breathe and enjoy the luxury of not having to be somewhere at a specific time. She wants to spend time with her sister and her family in Oklahoma and with cousins in Arkansas. She plans on getting back into music (she plays the piano and mandolin). There are needlepoint and knitting projects waiting for her, as she loves handwork crafting. New Mexico is also waiting for her to take day drips to various places within “awesome” NM! Of course, there are numerous home repair projects to start, so she does not expect to get bored!
From Dr. Elliott to You...
“Thank you to all the amazing clients I have had the pleasure of getting to know. I will miss all my sweet fuzzy patients. They have brought joy to my heart and a song in my soul."
